RAY TRAVICA TOURNAMENT – SATURDAY 31ST AUGUST 2024

A very big congratulations to Jammie Corney and everyone who assisted on the day of the tournament. From all accounts it was very successful, and all players seemed to enjoy the day.Congratulations to the winners.

OPEN DAY – SATURDAY 7th September 2024

Well, Open Day has come and gone again for this season. The weather was perfect and by all accounts all went off to plan.

A very big thank you to all who helped on the day, in the kitchen, setting up the tables, setting up the green, sherries and nibbles before lunch and then outside to open the greens.

This was done by four of our Life Members, Stan Burnett, Hans Worsteling, Fritz Helle and Allen Skurrie. Thank you, gentlemen,for being at the club to partake in this honour.

Members then played 9 ends of 2 bowl triples to cap off the day.

SANDBELT REGIONAL EVENTS 2024/2025

Sandbelt have advised that their regional events are now live on Bowlslink for anyone wishing to participate in them. This year they are running the following.

Men’s and Women’s

Fours, Pairs, Singles, Triples, Champion of Champion Singles, Over 60’s Singles and Over 60’s Pairs.

PENNANT PRACTICE MATCHES – WEEKEND AND MIDWEEK

Emails have been sent out regarding these games that our selection committees have organised. Just a reminder though, if you are playing your games against another club, the $10 green fee is payable. If your games are against another Cranbourne BC side, then no green fees are payable.

Please keep the selectors advised if you are not able to play.

You must be a financial member of the club before you will be allowed to play. If your membership hasn’t been paid yet and you wish to play, then please contact Gwen Scott to arrange.

MEMBERS DRAW – SATURDAY PENNANT

Once again, we will be holding the members draw on Saturday after pennant. It will be drawn at 6.00 pm. Members have 30 minutes to collect their prize. You must be at the club to collect the prize.

The prize will start at $100 for the first week and if not won, will increase by $25 per week. When we get to the final week of home and away games a number will be drawn until someone claims the money.

Each week there will also be a raffle drawn. To win this you do not have to be at the club. The prize will be held for you until you are able to collect it. If you are not going to be there, leave your ticket at the bar with your name on it.

NEW PENNANT SHIRTS

As previously advised, we now have a new Pennant Shirt which isavailable for pre-purchase. The cost will be $50 for short sleeved men’s shirts and $52 for short sleeved lady’s shirts. The prices for long sleeves will be slightly more. They should be in the club in the next 10 days.

Remember, if you want to order one you can do this through Monica Peers. Give Monica a call on 0432 081 577 to arrange.

UNITED PETROLEUM

Have you signed up yet to get a discount from United Petroleum each time you fill up. At the same time, you will be earning dollars for our bowls club. Your discount is 2 cents per litre, the same as what United pay to CBC at the end of each year.

The more members we have doing this, the more money we receive from United. Please consider it.

MONDAY MAINTENANCE – HANS’ HEROES

There is always something that can be done around the club, gardening, mowing, greens maintenance, cleaning up outside and inside the clubrooms.

Every member who lends a hand is helping to keep the rooms and outside areas in top conditions. The flowers are starting to come out now as Spring is here.

If you want to be part of this important task, please turn at up around 8 am. each Monday morning and someone will be able to give you something to do.

PLEASANT SUNDAY AFTERNOON – 6TH OCTOBER 2024FROM 2 PM.

Casey Radio is hosting an event at the clubrooms on Sunday 6thOctober 2024. All club members are welcome to attend this free event. Bring friends and family along. The bar will be open.

There is a list on the wall near the slide in the clubroom. Please put our name and email address on this so that you are registered for the event.

Green Fees – Practice match green fees ($10) are applicable for both Tuesday and Saturday if practice games are played against another club either home or away.
Practice match green fees are NOT applicable if playing Intra club games (ie) CBC v CBC.

All members are reminded that Membership Fees must be paid prior to Practice games starting.  Make sure all your gear and equipment is ready to use.  Do what you need to manage your health requirements, medications, hats, glasses, sunscreen etc.
Also remember to check the weather and have wet weather gear to use if required.

Approved bowls apparel is to be worn from once practice games commence.

If you’re unable to play, please make sure your name is on the unavailable lists and that the selectors are aware.

Cranbourne Bowling Club

• Social Bowls – Currently running each Wednesday and Saturday during winter. 10:00 am starts. Registration sheets for both days are up for you to put your name on.  Any concerns, please contact Steve Bakker or Scott De Piazza on 0414359 112 and 0413 065 132.
• Please note that social members will not be allowed to play on the grass greens until one of the club’s coaches has approved that member to use the grass greens. As you would appreciate the grass greens are special and must not be damaged.
• Helpers for maintenance on Monday mornings are always welcome. Just turn up at around 8 – 8.30 am and you will be put to good use with something that needs attention. The club grounds are looking great at present, as they usually do. Thank you Hans Hero’s.

Club Championships 2024-2025

Members are advised that entries for the up coming Open Triples & Open Fours for 2024-2025 close on Thursday 12th September 2024 and the draws will follow thereafter.  If you wish to play, get your name on the entry sheets and pay your $10 entry fee via the envelopes provided.

Club Pennant Shirts:

‘Members are reminded that the Club has received Bowls Australia and BowlsVic approval for a new Club Shirt.  These are currently in the process of being negotiated with the supplier and you can contact Monica Peers on 0432 081 577 to arrange a fitting and ordering.  Please note at this time either the clubs existing shirt or new one may be worn for Pennant.
